Patients with diabetes and depression are a tremendous challenge in primary care. How are you managing these patients and what type of information do you need to improve the care of these patients?

I treat many obese , therefore quite a few diabetics, who are unable to get their act together when it comes to have to take care of themselves, have to make changes in their lifestyles. develop discipline, follow instructions,....etc......
I make sure they don't have sleep apnea, which also leads to depression ,or seasonal affective disorder, and start them on antideprrssants which really helps them. Family history (suicide?) side effects of the proposed drug are discussed, and watched.
